People talk authenticity, i used to talk authenticity, not i simply see it as another form of vulnerability. But the example above is not about being vulnerable, that girl is rather vulnerable, she is seeing a professional for her problem after all, so she admits having a problem, so her vulnerability is close to perfect.
So whats the problem?
well, the problem with her, as with many others, is that nowadays culture promotes all kinds of trash nonvalues. it promotes comfort , it promotes manipulation, it promotes altruism , it promotes avoidance and on and on, this culture shat on all virtues and twisted them in some way and some contexts, making peoples selfesteem and philosophy flawed.
If we had a good culture, everything would be swell, the world would adopt these concepts, just like the girl here, and we would all be much much happier.
Unfortunately theres a long road to that destination. We had way better morals in the early days, *see Aristotle : "Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy."
And fortunately, compared to then, we have the internet, so information travels very fast, it could be faster yet, but its still fast. And this will allow the ones capable of filtering it, to filter it and lead the way.
speaking of, thats what the flaw of the poor girl is in this situation, her intelligence is not used to challenge certain concepts, like asking 'why is this attractive?', 'what virtue comes out of this?', 'what do i gain by doing this?', 'what does this do to my selfesteem?', 'what does this say about my identity?'
this clip is a great proof of a sane culture, a sane value system being promoted clean and clear. bashing the nonvalues, promoting values.
