I worked in similar environment doing game development ( its reason why i left that field forever ) Imagine working with people that sole goal is to prove everyone they know better ( and get promotion )And whatever is done, no matter how long it took or who stands behind it with his expertise – can be undone ( and changed )on smallest whim of “suits” that have no experience, knowledge or love for games. And everyone hates everything they do since nothing is what they wanted, liked. They were simply forced to do it ( and often under very stressful conditions ) Its a cesspool. And it always ends with lot of actual workforce being fired – while the “suits” and power mongers get promoted ( despite the fact the project obviously failed because of them – but the small workers are always blamed and replaced )

There’s a reason i barely play any AAA game anymore. 22/03/2017 at 05:54 Furiant says: This same phenomenon is why I quit professional programming forever. I have even come to the conclusion that I cannot do things I am passionate about for a living, at least not in the traditional office environment. I’d rather work all day at a job that is not fulfilling and come home to my passions, than work all day destroying my passion and come home to nothing. 22/03/2017 at 12:31 Crocobutt says: Been contemplating quitting my field too (3D animation/rigging); it’s nice to read others’ thoughts and experiences. Thinking of getting into farming, raise sheep or something.
The problem with these people, is that they dont see how they are responsible for their context. If one is not clear , articulate, coherent about his philosophy, about his value system, how can he expect others to follow it? since when were values *common sense*?
People wrongly assume, especially when they get old, that the others share (should share) their value system, or rather, that their values are the ultimate truth.
back to work, the problem is selfassertiveness and selfawareness. It involves an individual that
1 does not understand his own value system (cant argument exactly what he likes and why)
2 does not have the means to express himself coherently
3 he lacks the experience and or selfesteem to have a constructive conflict with the involved parties.
4 not able to detach himself from the end goal (that does not comply with his values) thus having to switch the context completely instead of focusing on optimizing his current one.
